Here is a soft, warm and cozy double knit headband that can be worn by either men or women in any color combination. Double knitting makes it perfectly reversible, inverting the colors, so you’ll get more color bang for your buck.

Since it makes a two layered fabric, I prefer not to use anything heavier than DK weight yarn in my double-knitting projects. For this project, I used Knit Picks Capra DK (merino/cashmere) … it has beautiful stitch definition and that touch of cashmere makes it so soft against the skin. Just 1 ball of each color is needed and the more contrast between the colors, the more striking the pattern will be. You could, however, use any smooth textured DK weight yarn.

If you haven’t had much experience with double knitting, I have included a link to a short video tutorial; demonstrating the techniques I used.
