This pattern started out as just a scarf, But the more I knitted it, the more ideas came to me. I liked the design done Horizontal as well as Vertical. So I made it both ways in a Scarf and a Stole.
Personally I like the scarf done vertically and the Stole done Horizontally. But each to his own.
The Scarf is written in 5” and 6” wide, you can do the length in ether 45 or 54 inches. Same with the Stole. 16” if you small and 18” is if your tall, or just like them big. This is the reason the yardage is for 219 up to 1,095 yards.
If your gauge is off some, it really doesn’t matter. Since they are both accent pieces, a little bigger or a little smaller does not show.
All the pieces are made with a size 8 needle. The difference is when they are made horizontally you put more stitches on the needle than when they are made vertically.
I have only made them with Berroco Briza. I’m sure there are other yarns that will work just as well. It is a worsted weight with a soft fuzzy texture, Briza is a Mohair/Nylon/Wool Blend.
It is a basic pattern with mostly Stockinette Stitch, Yarn Overs and Knit 2 stitches together. In some rows you Yarn Over Purl Wise and other rows you Yarn Over Knit Wise. The pattern spells out when you do which direction.
