This double thick crochet potholder design has been a staple in the kitchens of generations of homemakers. My grandmother gave me one when I was setting up my kitchen as a young bride. This classic works up quickly and makes the perfect gift for any cook.

This pattern includes some photos illustrating key points in the pattern. Construction of the potholder is worked in the spiral method, folded on the diagonal, then seamed to close.

The pattern can easily be adjusted to make a larger potholder. This is a great project to use up scraps. There is no limit to the number of variations of striping and color patterns.
