24 stripes, 2 ways! Gather up your DK scraps or a set of minis and whip up this fast, cozy knit. Leave room for a ponytail with the headband version, or pick up stitches and turn it into a hat! Simple garter stitch lets you enjoy each stripe of color, whether using bold solids or a smooth fade.

This hat is provisionally cast on and worked flat, horizontally in stripes, until all stripes have been worked. After joining the last row to the provisionally cast-on row, the band is folded in half and the 2 layers of fabric are secured to each other either with either a single round of crochet, or by picking up stitches along the edge to then use to work the crown of the hat.
This design works well with all kinds of dyeing techniques.

A low-vision version of the pattern is also available. This version is written in 24 point sans serif font (Arial) in all black text. It has no italics. All of the directions are fully written out.
