Dracarys
Triangular shawls automatically lend themselves to dragon shapes, hence, Dracarys!
This unique shawl is knit from the tip of the tail up to form a slightly diamond-shaped back. The wings are formed from two parts: the wing edge, picked up and knit from the angled part of the back; and the wings proper, picked up and knit along the bottom of the wing edge. The shape of the wings is created by using wrap-and-turns while knitting a repeating pattern along the bottom edge of the wing.
The length of the wing can be extended by adding additional lozenges, and the depth of the wings can be lengthened by simply adding extra sets of wrap-and-turns.
This pattern was created with 2 contrasting colors. However, this shawl can be created with only one color, if you choose. This shawl can be worked using just about any size yarn and needles. The version shown was knit using KnitAntics Jackalope in Purple People Eater and MOM! I Ate ALL the Candy! on US 7 needles.
