Draen is Old English for “male honeybee”. The body of this cowl reminds me of a honeycomb, and the nupps along the edge of worker bees lined up.

The cowl has a sawtoothed lace edging and simple slip stitch/garter body knit in the round. It is designed to use one skein of sock yarn. A heavier yarn will give you a denser, warmer cowl.

The nupps can be replaced with beads.

The pattern is charted.

Many thanks to my wonderful test knitters for making this pattern possible! -
