Dragon Blanket
I was asked to design a child’s blanket. The sort of cosy comfort blanket that lives on the arm of the sofa, so you can wrap it around you while you read a book or watch a film.
So I thought about all the fabulous stories and epic tales I’ve enjoyed on the sofa in my own reading nook. It was immediately obvious that a child’s cuddle-blanket needs to feature a dragon. A proper fierce dragon who will protect you from scary movie scenes. A wise, kind dragon who will teach you to be brave and strong. A dragon on a blanket which is so cool that you’ll never grow out of it even when you’re a teenager or a grown up. A blanket that is even big enough for when your friends come over.
For this blanket I used six 50g balls of bottle green and five 50g balls of cream yarn - Friends Extra Fine Merino by Hobbii. This made a rectangular blanket of 142cm x 107 cm which is about 55 x 42 inches.
The pattern is for a blanket knit in the round and steeked (cut) open afterwards.
