Please note that 2 skeins will only be sufficient to make size 46– 47 cm [18.1– 18.5 in] cm [18.1– 18.5 in]. For larger sizes, a lot depends on personal gauge, even a difference of just fractions of a millimeter can mean to run out of material before the final 1– 2 rows of the bill. I recommend having 2.5 skeins of raffia just in case.

You will need 80 g / 160 m 2.8 oz / 175 yds of rayon / viscose or just cellulose (raffia) for size 46– 47 cm [18.1– 18.5 in], and 100 g / 200 m [3.5 oz / 219 yds] for larger sizes.
The pictured hat has been made of 2.5 skeins Eco Andaria (Hamanaka Japan), in colors Black #30, and Yellow #165.

The pattern has been designed and graded for use with specific materials at a specific gauge – if substituting other materials, or your gauge doesn’t match the one listed in the instructions, the result might turn out unpredictable.

You may experiment, and do your own swatching and calculations for using other materials, but please be advised that I can not readjust the pattern for you if you should decide to use a different type of yarn.

Tools: crochet hook 3 mm [US between C/2 and D, UK/Can 11] (please crochet a gauge swatch and make sure that your gauge matches the one listed in the pattern, if your stitches are smaller = you have more stitches than listed in 10 cm [4 in], use a larger hook, if you have fewer sts = your sts are larger, use a smaller hook).
