This pattern creates a drawstring bag that is approximately 5” in diameter and 7” tall. These are often called “dice bags” or “Dungeons & Dragons” dice bags, but they can be used to hold anything you wish.

This pattern is for advanced beginners. It includes basic stitches as well as the dragon scale (aka crocodile) stitch. Photo tutorials are included for the dragon scale stitch.

The bag shown is created using a worsted weight (weight 4) yarn and a 5.0 mm hook, but you can also use a thinner weight and hook to make the bag smaller. It is not recommended to use a plush or bulky yarn with this pattern, because it will not show the detail of the dragon scale as well as a thinner yarn.
