Dragonflies in Amber
Dragonflies trapped in time circle the yoke of this pullover sweater. Knit with two different hand-dyed fingering weight yarns, this design offers a fitted silhouette with just a touch of contrast color at the hem, cuffs, and neck. This pullover is worked in the round from the bottom up with short row shaping at the upper back for a good fit. Sleeves are worked separately and attached at the yoke. The elaborate dragonfly yoke design is worked in the round with carefully constructed decreases for shaping. A simple rib knit finishes off the neck.
This pattern includes sizes to fit a 32 (36, 40, 44) (48, 52, 56) (60, 64)” or 81 (91, 102, 112) (122, 132, 142) (152, 163) cm chest circumference. #sizeinclusive
The gauge is 24 stitches and 34 rows over 4” (10cm) in stockinette stitch, blocked.
The gauge is 26 stitches and 30 rows over 4” (10cm) in stranded stockinette stitch, blocked.
This is an intermediate level pattern. Knitters should have experience with stranded knitting technique, long carries, and following a complex two-color chart. Knitters will also use short rows (W&T), basic shaping techniques, and Kitchener Stitch technique.
The recommended yarns for this pattern are:
Main Color: Dream in Color Smooshy (85% Superwash Merino, 15% Nylon, fingering weight yarn; 420 yds (384m)/115g): 3 (3, 4, 4) (4, 5, 5) (5, 6) hanks in Gold Experience #010
Contrast Color: Sweet Georgia Tough Love Sock (80% Superwash Merino, 20% Nylon, fingering weight yarn; 425yds (388m)/115g): 1 hank in Cauldron
You will also need 16” (40cm) and 32” (80cm) circular needles and DPNs in size US 4 (3.5mm), or size to obtain gauge.
This pattern includes a schematic, full color chart, written instructions, and notes on short row and Kitchener Stitch techniques.
