The Dream Team Top combines so many of my favourite things. As a designer I love working with colour. Bonus points for high impact colour achieved in the simplest way, stripes! My first sample features a lush turtleneck and generous folded over ribbed cuffs for a cozy, cold weather staple. To make it more Springtime appropriate I knit a second version in a spicy palette with a crewneck and short sleeves. Gotta love the versatility! The graphic shoulder detail where the stripes intersect at interesting angles has me hooked. This pattern feature all of my dream sweater elements and I couldn’t be happier with it.
Sizes
84 (91.5, 98, 105.5, 114.5, 122) 132, 142, 152.5, 162.5, 172.5 cm / 33 (36, 38.5, 41.5, 45, 48) 52, 56, 60, 64, 68”
Samples are shown with about 5“ (t-shirt) and 8” (turtleneck) of positive ease. The sizes are the actual finished measurement of the garment. Select a size that is 4”- 10” larger than your actual chest measurement to achieve the recommended ease.
Gauge
22 stitches and 28 rows = 10 cm / 4” square in stockinette stitch knit in the round on larger needles after wet blocking.
Recommended Needles
4mm (US size 6) 80 cm / 32” and preferred length for small circumference knitting in the round.
3.5mm (US size 4) 40 cm / 16” and preferred length for small circumference knitting in the round.
Or size needed to achieve gauge.
Yarn
Your favourite DK weight yarn.
Turtleneck sample features TFA PureWash DK (113g = 260yds) in the colourways Robin’s Egg, Peacock, Charcoal, Acorn, Camel and Buttercream with Acorn as the MC.
T-shirt sample features TFA PureWash DK (113g = 260 yds) in the colourways Glam, Blind Melon, Cantaloupe, Smoke, Cassis and Vamp with Smoke as the MC.
Yardage is given for the long sleeve version, if knitting a short sleeve version you will need about 25% less yardage. I’ve broken down the yardage for both 6 colour and 7 colour versions. The first 7 sizes can be knit in a 6 colour palette with a single skein of each of the CC’s and more of the MC which is used for the ribbed cuffs, hem and collar. By adding a 7th colour, sizes 8 - 11 can do the same.
