A simple yet stylish hat, made with the HDC stitch.
The pattern within the hat is just clever placement of the half double crochet stitch.
The stitch pattern is a repeat of 2 st’s.
If you look closely at a made half double crochet stitch, you will see 3 loops that you can work into.
The pattern begins with making a hdc into the 2 front loops of the hdc stitch, the next step is to make the following hdc into the 3rd loop only.
Repeat these steps for the remainder of the round.
I’m naming this stitch the hdc weave st.
You will always slip stitch to join, then to begin the next round, you will chain 1 and repeat the same instructions as the first row.
You will always do a hdc into the front 2 loops of a hdc that was made in the previous round the same way.
The same goes for the hdc in the 3rd loop.
To make it easy when I am doing this hdc weave stitch, I know that the front 2 loops is an odd number and the third loop is an even number.
The instructions include a beanie version too!
