This pattern is the fingering-weight adaptation of the original Dreamcatcher. The old one should only be knit with heavy weight yarn. I was very conservative with size and gauge knitting the prototype for this one; I knitted it tight (which is very unnatural to me) on 3mm needles. I measured it pre-blocking without any stretching to give you the smallest size possible: 170cm wide at the top, 60cm at the tallest part. I am sure it will stretch after blocking, but can’t tell by how much. My gauge was 22x28 in 10 cm in garter stitch.
Techniques used: mostly short rows, there is a lot of them, they are everywhere. There are also some increases and decreases.
You will need:
3.5 – 4mm circular needles, long enough to accommodate 700+ sts,
non-splitty fingering-weight yarn:
100g/400m of MC (shown black)
100g/400m of A (yellow/gray variegated)
50g /200m of B (gray)
60g/240m of C (darker solid yellow)
50g / 200m of D (light yellow)
You can use fewer or more colors. It is important that all colors you plan to use are in contrast with MC. Do not use gradient yarn, especially for the A.
