Dreamleaf Wristwarmers
Dreamleaf wristwarmers are a pair of wrist warmers with a delicate leaf pattern. The wrist warmers are knitted in the round according to a chart on one side and in stockinette stitch on the other side. Stitches are increased to get a good fit for the thumb. Stitches for the thumb are put on hold before decreasing stitches while knitting the last cm. The thumb is knitted last.
There are two different charts, one chart for the left wrist warmer and one for the right wrist warmer. There are two options for the edges, rib or i-cord.
Sizes: 1, 2, 3
Measurements:
Width: 9 (10) 11 cm (lying flat)
Thumb width: 4 cm (lying flat)
Length: 20 cm with i-cord edges, 21 cm with rib edges
Gauge: 21x34 sts = 10x10 cm in stockinette stitch on 3,5 mm needle after blocking.
Make a gauge swatch. It is important to check if the knitting tension is correct to achieve the right measurements. If you get more stitches per 10 cm, work with a larger needle size. If you get fewer stitches, work with a smaller needle size.
Recommended needle size:
3,5 mm double pointed needles
or
3,5 mm circular needle (80/100 cm) if you use the Magic Loop technique
Recommended yarn:
Suggestion 1:
29 (30) 31 gram Sunday from Sandnes Garn (50 g = 235 m)
together with
16 (17) 18 gram Tynn Silk Mohair from Sandnes Garn (25 g = 212 m)
Suggestion 2:
29 (31) 33 gram Cashmere from Sandnes Garn (25 g = 110 m)
If you choose to knit in a different yarn quality, remember to check the running meters so that you have enough yarn.
You will also need:
1 beginning of round stitch marker
Left over yarn for the thumb stitches
2 stitch markers to mark the chart
2 stitch markers to mark where to increase for the thumb
Cable needle
A needle to weave in the all ends
