CY (Contrasting Yarn): Because the number and size of your ‘drifts’ are entirely up to you, I won’t list precise yardages. I used less than 10g of mohair in my sample (pictured). It’s a great opportunity to use remnants!

About the Pattern

Drift is a simple garment. Following the basic pattern instructions will result in a no-frills circular yoke sweater that fits much like a sweatshirt. I do not give precise instructions on where to place your ‘drifts’ (contrasting patches); I provide guidelines, considerations, and pithy instructions for drifts of any size.

Instructions and ideas for working the ‘drifts’ are located outside the main pattern. I suggest reading the single page of drift instructions before starting the pattern.

My intent in making this pattern was to develop an easy-to-knit, versatile, unisex sweater. You could easily forego the ‘drifts’ and instead insert color-work, stitch patterns, or lace motifs between each increase round in the yoke.

I hope this simple pattern is one you return to again and again to customize however you like!
