When the temperature dips, everyone needs to keep warm in a thick hat! Mountain Meadow Merino Wool is super soft, thick and bouncy, and perfectly suited for this squishy head topper with seed stitch pattern bands.

To make a slouchier hat, just add more knit rounds between the seed stitch bands or knit extra height before beginning the crown shaping at the top.

Choose one skein Sheridan Bulky for each Drifter that you want to make. Their wool is American grown by ranchers near the mill in Buffalo, Wyoming. It’s all ecologically processed and kept natural in color or beautifully dyed in small batches.

While traveling out west this summer, I stopped in the mill to shop and get a tour. What a warm welcome I received! I’ve become a very big fan of their products, and I got inspired to dream up this hat design with some of the skeins I took home.
