Driftless Mitts are the companion to the Driftless Hat pattern. Both hat and mitts can be made using just 2 skeins of Malabrigo Rios, and both are great first-time colorwork projects. With only 10 rows of stranded colorwork, and an option to knit flat or in-the-round, this pattern is a good way to ease into a new skill!
They were named after the rolling hills of the Driftless Region in Western Wisconsin.

Construction:
These mitts are fast, easy and rewarding, and would be an excellent first-time colorwork project. They are knit in the round- with the option to knit flat- from the bottom up, increasing to create the thumb, and following a simple colorwork chart at the top.

Needles:
3.25 mm/US Size 3 double pointed needles
3.25 mm/US Size 3 straight needles (only if working flat)

Notions: stitch markers and tapestry needle

Yarn:
DK Weight or worsted weight to meet gauge
76-96 yards of main color and 6-8 yards of your second color.

Finished Size:
The finished size is about 3.25 inches wide and 7.5 inches tall. They will fit an average adult hand with a slim fit, and older children’s hands as well.
