Driftwood is one of those materials that straddles the line between beautiful and eerie. Wood that falls in the ocean is stripped bare by the water, eroded to a smooth touch until it washes back to shore. The Driftwood boot toppers use cables to mimic the weathered branches and roots that twist up and out from waterfronts across the world.

Sizes
There are four sizes in the pattern: 1 (25cm / 10” ankle circumference), 2 (27.5cm / 11” ankle circumference), 3 (30cm / 12” ankle circumference), and 4 (32.5cm / 13” ankle circumference).

The circumferences given are the size of the finished boot topper, which is designed to have 5cm / 2.5” of positive ease at the ankle. Choose your size by measuring your ankle and then adding 5cm / 2.5”. If between sizes, size up.

Yarn and Yardage
The sample is knit in Sonder Yarn Co. Sunday Morning DK (75% BFL, 25% Masham, 268 yards/100g) in Offline. Approx. 150 - 190 yards are needed, depending on size.

Notions
Knitting needles (DPNs or circulars), stitch markers, cable needle, and darning needle.

Techniques
This pattern has quite a bit of cabling, so a comfortable knowledge of cabling is a must. Other than that, this pattern is suitable for knitters who are familiar with knitting in the round. The cable pattern is both charted and written.
