These socks were inspired by a rainy day and a lovely new handmade mug.

I was drinking tea from a mug that had a raindrop design on it, whilst watching the rain fall outside. I love the rain and so enjoy listening to it patter on the windows whilst I’m cosy and warm inside.

I began thinking of creating a pattern that reflected this feeling and very quickly these socks were born !

The design is simple but very effective and is fun and soothing to knit. It works fabulously well with a variegated yarn and is perfect for new and experienced knitters alike.

The pattern includes my new method for eliminating holes on the gusset pick up, and there is also a video tutorial within the pattern that demonstrates this.

The toe is also a new design, which I named the ‘Umbrella Toe’. Its very fun to knit and gives a lovely rounded shape.

I absolutely loved designing and knitting these socks and I hope you all love them too !
