This was a pattern originally released back in 2023 as a graph as part of the March set of worksheets from The East London Crochet Group (ELCG) March meeting but I have now updated it with full written instructions and is part of the In Mawwi Blanket project.

It uses double filet crochet also known as interlocking which was first taught to me by Barbara Mann almost 20 years ago now and I had the pleasure to help with the 25 Years and Counting CAL the ELCG released from Barbara’s original patterns during Covid.

I have now added a second version of the pattern that includes colour change in the contact yarn, see the second photo, also added an instruction sheet on how to read the pattern. I would recommend trying the easy colour change square pattern first which is also free.

I would suggest trying out some of the simpler squares that the ELCG have put out if you have not worked this technique before. Rose Bowers also has some very useful videos and patterns available.

This project is great for using up all those left over yarn you have from larger projects.
