The Dubliner hat is a classic, cozy design inspired in part by an Irish fisherman’s sweater made by my grandmother. The pattern incorporates cables and eyelet with a simple ribbing to create a wearable design. Since visiting Dublin in 2013 I’ve been in love with this beautiful city. This would be the perfect hat for cold days spent wandering city streets or walking lonely winter beaches.

This pattern is for a bulky version of the Dubliner hat, knit using Ístex Alafosslopi. I purchased a skein of this yarn while in Iceland last year and knew immediately that it would make an excellent version of this hat, though of course other bulky weight yarns will work as well.

This version of the hat is one size only, and is available for free when you sign up for the Raincloud & Sage newsletter. However, there is also another version of the Dubliner hat, which includes 3 sizes (one child/youth and two adult sizes) and uses a worsted weight yarn should you be interested in that version of the pattern.
