DUBULA is the ancient Celtic name for the Deûle, a channeled river which flows through Orlane’s home town in Northern France. Dubula also translates as “noiraude” (soot-blackened) in French, which was also the name given to the soot-spirits in the French version of Hayao Miyazaki’s award-winning Studio Ghibli anime film “My Neighbor Totoro”. Just like the film, this sweater has a comforting, bohemian and poetic feel.

Dubula is slightly loose for a modern and cozy look. Knitted in the round, it is constructed by first working the lower body and sleeves to the armholes. The three pieces are then joined to form one piece and thus work the colourwork yoke. The stitches of the neckline are picked up to knit the collar, folded and fairly wide, giving the final touch to the strong personality of the sweater. Throughout the process, several series of short rows are used for a comfortable and beautifully shaped finish.
