Hi! I’m so excited to be sharing my first pattern.

The duck soup beanie gets its name for how easy it is — as easy as duck soup! This simple cap is knit in the round all the way up. Beginning with a 1x1 rib, then stockinette the rest of the way up, it’s a good starter beanie or something to just whip out if you need a last-minute gift for a good pal.

This pattern is one-size and unisex. I wrote it with a tighter fit in mind (think fisherman beanie), but also added a note for anyone who prefers a slouchier fit at the top. The slouch is only added with length so that the fit is still snug and so that it keeps your ears toasty!

For this hat, you’ll need:
US #7 (4.5mm) needles (16in circulars or DPNs)
tapestry needle
something to measure with!

I used less than one skein of Lionbrand Basic Stitch yarn. The length is dictated by measurement but the width is dictated by the number of stitches, so be sure to match gauge!

Gauge: 20 sts by 28 rows = 4x4in

I can’t wait to see your duck soup beanie!
