This project started out as a simple diamond and fern patterned cardigan. Then I thought “Wouldn’t it be cool if one of the diamonds had something different in it? Like a skull? Or a flower?” and that thought led to “Why stop at one? Every diamond could be different? No, that’s a really dumb idea. It would be so much work to chart that out.” which was immediately followed by “But it would be really cool.” And so here’s my dumb idea sweater fully charted. There are 154 whole or partial diamonds with unique motifs, mostly from video games, anime, and other nerdy things. If you feel similarly inspired to dumb ideas, I’ve included the spreadsheet you can fill with your own motifs.

Size: Finished sweater as charted is 40” around the body, 27” long from back neck to hem. Sleeves are 20” long from the underarms, and 14” around at the biceps.

Materials: ~ 1800 yds total DK weight yarn in 2 colors; MC is the background color and CC is the detail and border color, size 6 circular needle
