Shorelines: Knits from Scottish Coasts
> Dunbar

Dunbar
Dunbar (Dùn Bàrr) is a fishing village down the coast from Edinburgh and the place I called home for most of my childhood. Its harbour still boasts a bustling fishing trade, and it’s watched over by the scraggly ruins of Dunbar Castle. The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) plays an active role in the town, and seafaring is still a large part of Dunbar’s culture. This sweater is a nod to that: a classic cable knit with welt and ribbing details mirroring traditional ganseys.
CONSTRUCTION
Dunbar is a bottom-up cable knit sweater with drop shoulders. The shoulders are joined with I-cord Three-Needle Bind-Offs, and the sweater is finished with 2 x 2 ribbing. This is a sister sweater to the Feolin. Both share the same construction and finishings.
