Eagle Tail Shawl
This pattern is temporarily unavailable, so that it can be independently reviewed. This should be returned to the store in short order, as I have faith in my pattern and the talent of not only my testers (who are both friends and strangers) but also in the people who have completed it successfully. I definitely wont apologise for having as much detail in the pattern as I do, as I believe Crochet should be available to not only “experts” but people at every skill level.
Thank you to the two beautiful souls who have posted their completed projects, they are gorgeous ❤️ and thank you to the wonderful people who have shared their projects with me on other forums or privately.
This pattern was inspired by the beautiful native Australian Wedge Tailed Eagle, which is one of the largest eagles in the world!
One 1000m cake of yarn is sufficient to have a cozy fit for most, however the repeats are quite easy to follow so increasing the size will not be difficult if you wish to go even bigger!
If you wish to go larger, repeat the rows per row 50-52, with an increase in each extra triplet. Row 53 and Row 54 are optional at this point, as the larger the big feathers go, the more defined they look.
I also highly recommend that you do not use a finer yarn (ie Hobbii Sultan, Shadows or Pastello) and do use the recommended yarn (Hobbii Sultan Deluxe, Twister or Scheepjes Whirl) or heavier, as you will need more than one ball of yarn to get a comfortable size. I also highly recommend blocking, as you can see that it makes the project into the nicer, sharp shape and you won’t get this effect without blocking.
Please note this pattern HAS INDEED been tested, however the testers do not maintain Ravelry accounts. I have asked that they create an account if possible to show their test designs.
And the people who have posted their successful creations are awesome and attempts to degrade, insult and delegitimise their creations are honestly awful and very upsetting.
An updated pattern has been reissued, addressing the concerns raised recently, which was in regards to the placement of feathers and increases. A photo has also been added.
