THIS GUIDE IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

This is meant as a guide to make your own freeform, one-of-a-kind shawl! This is not a normal step-by-step pattern.

For my shawl I used fingering and sock weight yarns. I recommend fingering/sock (#1), sport weight (#2), and DK (#3) as the best yarns to use for this shawl (because that’s my preference) but you can use any weight yarn you choose. I used approximately 1800 to 1900 yards. Your shawl yardage will vary depending on yarn weight, finished size, and other choices you make.

Gauge is not crucial to this design. Use a gauge and drape that pleases you. Your gauge and drape will vary depending on your choices.

Earthen: made of earth. As nature creates art from earth, we textile artists create art from fiber. While I crafted and named my freeform shawl, I reflected upon earth and clay, rocks, broken shards of pottery, and Southwest inspiration. No matter what colors or patterns you choose for your shawl, let it form organically from your imagination, where your ideas are your earth and clay!
