East mittens
These cosy mittens have a beautiful abstract colourwork design inspired by the winter sunsets over a landscape of bare ploughed fields that we get in out here in the East in Norfolk.
They have a long cuff to ensure that your hands and wrists stay warm and toasty.
East is an easy knit. Knitted flat with an integrated thumb and using a charted intarsia design. Knitted in a DK weight yarn. They make for a perfect fast knit for when winter arrives you need a pair of mittens quick.
I’ve used our signature Fibreworkshop DK yarn. The pattern is also perfect for stash busting, working with any DK weight yarn, using less than 250m of yarn! Go mad and choose your own colours and yarns.
So knit them up, pull them on and head East.
NOTES
East mittens are knitted flat from cuff to finger tips. The colour work is knitted using intarsia technique following the charted design. Techniques include a tubular cast-on, intarsia and grafting with kitchener st. The thumb gusset is created with increases and the thumb thumb is finished by working in the round to complete.
