Autumn coloured Short Mitts knitted in traditional Shetland diced all over pattern with a moss stitch cast on rib and 1 x 1 ribbed finger opening.

FULL Photo tutorial on how to knit a thumb included in this pattern.

This short glove pattern incorporates the all over Shetland Dice pattern in autumn colours and has been designed to match the Smola scarf and Shetland Wall Flowers hat.

The pattern chart is 54 stitches wide and the pattern is knitted in the round and is placed in such a way that a central pattern runs up the back of your hand and the join of each round falls in the middle of the palm. I have done this purposely so that the small step in pattern at the join point of each round is not on the side of the hand, where it would be noticeable, but in the palm.

For this pattern, you can use either Jamieson’s of Shetland Spindrift, which the pattern chart is made for, or you can use The Border Mill, North Coast Tweed because their colours also work perfectly.

The Border Mill will be producing a kit for these mitts. Please contact them regarding this.

Chart Colours: Gold, Maroon, Havana, Sunrise for the main Shetland Dice Pattern and small bits for the middle lines – I used Amber and Autumn.

If you have bought and knitted the Smola Scarf Pattern or the Shetland Wall Flowers hat, you will be familiar with this pattern and may have enough yarn from those projects to knit this one in matching colours with the left over yarn.

This pattern is interchangeable with the Smola and Shetland Wall Flowers Pattern charts and colour ways.
