This is a very easy hat to make. You can either wear it as a slouch or roll up the rim and you have a beanie.

The gauge isn’t important. I concentrate more on the needle, so that way I can easily change the yarn.

The only really important thing is to sew the side seam flat, so that you can convert the hat without a seam ridge on the rib section.
