I made these apples for a My Little Pony themed birthday party for my daughter to represent Apple Jack. They work up super quickly and are easy enough for a beginning crocheter.

I crocheted 8 of them and used clothespins to string them up just a little higher than the kids and they went “bobbing” for apples. It was a huge hit. After the party my cats adopted them as toys to bat around the house and my daughter uses them in her fabric garden. She thinks they look good enough to eat!

I worked these out of discount yarn because that is what I had available, but these would be adorable out of wool roving and then felted. If you choose to felt your apples you may want to add in an additional increase and decrease row since they will shrink a bit due to the felting process. I have added my suggested alteration to the pattern at the bottom.

This pattern is for red apples, but a green apple with a brown stem would be a cute variation.
