Easy, fast & cheap wool undies
My first pattern on ravelry, woohoo!
This is a pattern for an open-mesh lace underwear designed for a strong wool/nylon blend or similar. Wool, especially an open mesh-like wool fabric, is ultra moisture wicking and naturally antimicrobial, making it a great choice for plus-size winter underwear (IYKYK). Creating an actually efficient wool underwear pattern has been a goal of mine for a long time, so finally here it is.
The construction is worked in three distinct parts plus a trim, lending to many colorblock possibilities! This is cute, but mostly serves to make it less miserable for me to run off pair after pair (I have 6 and counting right now). This pattern also utilizes 6mm elastic for a fit that stays in place for hours of wear.
Size provided is about a 3XL--Unfortunately I’m not 100% sure how to go about size grading it, but if you’ve crocheted for a while and start with a smaller or larger foundation chain, I’m sure you could figure out something workable. Please post notes if you do!
I used 4 strands held together of 2/36 wool-nylon weaving yarn but you could adjust with basically any lace weight or light fingering to get a similar effect--mill-end weaving yarn is just a good way for me to get wool for cheap. This yarn does felt a little bit with wear, which I happen to like since it gives a very glove-like fit.
