“This beautiful, traditional pattern stitch originated in the Scottish Shetland Islands, where the famous Shetland lace knit shawls were created. This was one of the most popular of the lace stitches. Our afghan works up quickly on size 11 needles, and is made in three panels. We made our model in an ombre yarn, but it would be just as pretty worked in a solid color.” - The 7-Day Afghan Book

Materials
Worsted weight yarn, Dusty Rose ombre, 28 oz
14” long size 11 straight knitting needles (or size required for gauge)

Note: found on page 111 in the 1985 Edition - calls for a larger needle size than pattern on page 63, and is worked in panels which are then joined with overcast stitch.
