Easy pattern for a fitted or slouchy beanie hat knit with straight needles. Suitable for beginner knitters who have got the hang of knit and purl stitches.

Step by step hat seaming video tutorial included.

Sizing & Gauge
This hat pattern is one size to fit most adult heads. The sample fits both my small female head (with some slouch) and a 6ft man’s head (fitted).

While standard aran gauge of 18x24 is suggested, exact gauge is not important (especially vertical row gauge) as the hat is quite stretchy & you knit it to a certain length. The hat is your swatch, there’s no need for test squares.

5mm is the pattern needle size as that’s standard for aran yarn, but I suggest using the needle size on your yarn ball band.

Yarn Amounts
You need 2 small 50g balls of yarn or 1 larger ball to make a hat (with some leftover).

I used approx 55g of Rico Essentials soft merino aran (1 and a bit balls) to make my lilac hat (which is slightly slouchy or fitted depending on your head size).
