This stylish cover-up was given its name because of it’s simplicity and the lightweight cool fabric that it creates. The adorable added picot edging at the bottom adds a cute extra flair: Just a small detail that makes all the difference, bringing it from ordinary to a little bit more fancy and feminine. This cover-up pattern can easily be adjusted to accommodate the width and length you prefer by adjusting the number of starting chains and the number of rows. Additionally, the side slits can be adjusted to your preference or seamed right down. This versatile pattern will allow you to customize your project to suit your taste and body type and make it a sure staple in your closet for beach days or even as a summer poncho style top to put over a camisole or simple dress.

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate

Construction:
The body of this cover-up is worked from side to side in one long rectangular piece. The head opening is achieved by creating a long chain at the centre of the panel. After the body is folded in half, armholes are created by seaming partway down each side, leaving a large opening for the decorative beaded tassle ties. (Alternatively, you can leave the side completely open like a poncho style, using only the tassle ties as closure, or simply stitch the sides as far down as you’d like and eliminate the tassle ties.) The neckline is edged in front post and back post double crochets to create a pleasing texture. The decorative mesh and picot edging are added last to both front and back of the garment. The minimal sewing in this project creates a smooth, visually pleasing continuity in the fabric.
