Easy Set includes a beret and snood and is an easy, enjoyable project. The softly shaped beret is worked from the bottom up in stockinette stitch, while the snood is worked in textured double seed stitch.

Both pieces are seamless and worked in the round. The beret is shaped with evenly spaced increases and decreases and finished with a small i-cord tip. The snood is a straight tube that can be worn around the neck or pulled up over the head.

Sizes:
Beret: to fit a head circumference of 56–58 cm; approximately 25 cm in diameter at the widest point.
Snood: approximately 28–30 cm wide when laid flat and 40 cm high.

Yarn:
You will need 3 skeins of one of the following yarns, approximately 450–480 m / 492–525 yd in total:

  • Onion Organic Wool+Nettles No. 3 – 70% wool, 30% nettle fiber; 160 m / 50 g or
  • Casagrande CashTweed – 70% superfine lambswool, 30% cashmere; 150 m / 50 g or
  • Fonty Mongolia 3 – 85% merino wool, 15% yak down; 150 m / 50 g

You may also use another yarn that allows you to obtain the stated gauge.

Gauge:
Beret: 23 sts and 30 rows = 10 × 10 cm in stockinette stitch after blocking.
Snood: 21 sts = 10 cm in double seed stitch after blocking.

Needles and tools:

  • 3.5 mm and 4 mm circular needles with 40 cm and 60 cm cables, or the needle size needed to obtain gauge
  • 4 mm double-pointed needles, or a long circular needle for Magic Loop
  • 8 stitch markers
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Skill level: Confident beginner.
