For the original project, I used approximately 50 - 75 grams of unbrushed mohair. It was unlabeled yarn I picked up at a machine knitting store in Aiea on O’ahu (near Cutter Ford off Kam Highway) and had them wind me off 3-4 ounces of.

Note the dimensions are relative as this is a scarf. If following the directions, an approximately similarly sized scarf will result.

This would work nicely in a brushed mohair or wool or other yarn of your choice. The scarf is reversible thanks to a 3 row repeat.

I will need to reknit this pattern up as the scarf I made for the KnitList gift exchange in 1995 was a gift and no longer is with me. Once I get it finished, I’ll upload a photo. I joined Ravelry without realizing that some of these patterns had made it here.

The unbrushed mohair I used was approximately a DK weight. Mohairs are harder to judge weight on due to the fact that the yarn itself takes up a lot of space due to it’s hairy quality.

The gauge is relative. This gauge will result in a fluffy, airy, lightweight scarf. If you use a different yarn type, like a wool or cotton or whatnot, the texture will be different.

It’s a nice, simple pattern that once memorized is like eating popcorn. Just one more row!
