A flamboyant, close-fitting jacket with flared peplum, elaborate pearl covered lapels and 3/4 sleeves. To transform this showy knit into a more casual piece, work a size larger using a muted colour and omit the pearls.

This starts with a Provisional Cast On at the waist and is knit down to complete the flared peplum. The Provisional Cast On is then unpicked and the jacket is knit from the waist up in one piece until it divides at the armholes. The sleeves, lapels and collar are worked from picked up sts making this a seamless knit, other than sewing down the hems and facings on the peplum. Pearls decorate the lapels, but there is no need to string them on the yarn in advance, they are simply added with a crochet hook.
