The Lotus flower is considered sacred in most of the Indian religions, lotus is one of the eight auspicious signs of Buddhism and Hinduism, the eight petals of the white lotus correspond to the Noble Eightfold Path of the Good Law.

Also, Eight petal lotus (Astadala Padma) is the foundation of Indian Meditation Philosophy and is based on the wheel of time (Kaal Chakra). This wheel is composed of eight spokes.

Lotus reflects purity, it shows us that no matter how bad the situation is, you can still rise through the mud, you can still emerge from the water and you can still blossom through sunlight.

This is my humble attempt at replicating this beautiful lotus flower.

This is a stashbuster project, I have used 4 colors to replicate the Lotus, but you may use more colors or may make it one solid color, it will still bloom..

You will also need steel crochet hook of 1.5 mm.

Gauge is not very critical but after round 7 the flower measures around 3’’.

Finished size after blocking is around 5’’.

The free pattern with photo tutorial is available on my blog.

Hope you will enjoy making these coasters.

Love,
