Eira mittens stickas runt i slätstickning från handleden upp mot toppen. Nederkanten har rullkant och det virkas en rand av kräftmaskor runt vanten i en kontrastfärg.

Först läggs det upp maskor för handleden, på rundsticka eller strumpstickor. När handledsdelen är färdig börjar det ökas för tummen. Dessa maskor sätts sedan att vila medan resten av vanten stickas. Det minskas för toppen, som avslutas med att man syr maskstygn mellan de sista maskorna. Därefter stickas tummen. Slutligen virkas en kant runt vanten med kräftmaskor.

Garnval
Vantarna kan stickas i valfritt DK-garn med en masktäthet på ca 20-22 m/10 cm alternativt en tråd fingering-garn tillsammans med ett lace-garn, så som en silk mohair eller en alpacka följetråd.

Eira mittens are worked in the round in stockinette stitch, from the bottom up. The bottom has a roll edge, and a crocheted edge of crab stitches is worked around the mitten, in a contrasting colour.

First, stitches are cast on for the wrist and worked in stockinette stitch. When the wrist part is done increases for the thumb are made. These stitches are then put to rest while the rest of the mitten is worked. Decreases are made for the top and finished with mattress stitches. Hereafter the thumb is worked and lastly, an edge of crab stitches is crocheted around the mitten.

Gauge: 23 sts / 34 rows on needle 3 mm / US 2.5 in stockinette stitch
Suggested needles: 3 mm / US 2.5 round needle (80 cm / 32’ or longer if Magic loop is used) or DPNs, 2.5 mm hook (or size C/2).
Depending on your choice of yarn and your own gauge the needles might need to be adjusted. Make a swatch and block it before measuring, to ensure you have the correct gauge.

Choosing size
The sizes S (M) L correspond to a hand circumference of 17-18 (18-19) (19-20) cm / 6.7-7.1 (7.1-7.5) (7.5-7.9) inches, measured where the hand is it’s widest. The length of the mitten and thumb can easily be adjusted.

Choosing yarn
The mittens can be worked in any DK yarn alternatively one thread of fingering yarn together with one thread lace yarn, e.g. a silk mohair or alpaca following thread.
