Eixample
Welcome to Eixample!
This pattern is in mosaic crochet, using the Overlay method (also known as: the one row method or Tinna’s method).
The Eixample blanket got its name from the district Eixample in Barcelona. When you google Eixample you will see why.
I wanted to make a design of many different diamonds, the placing of which would create a nice grid.
There are a total of 19 different diamonds, which makes for a lot of variety in crocheting the blanket: never a dull moment!
I for one can’t wait to see what beautiful blanket you will crochet!
The pattern includes
• Charts and written instructions
• Instructions on mosaic crochet (including pictures), all the stitches and on reading the charts
• Color inspiration
• Instructions and pattern for a double border
• 28 pages total
Size
The finished body of the blanket is 118 x 188 centimeters/47 inches by 75 inches.
The border will add 6 centimeters/2,36 inches to each side.
Yarn stats
I’m giving you the yarn stats for Stylecraft Special DK, because that is what I used. You can of course use different yarn, but the amount of yarn needed and size of your blanket may be different.
You are using a minimum of two colors for this blanket.
Total blanket, with the double border: 1.830 grams/64 ounces (18,5 balls); 850 grams/29.4 ounces of color A and 980 grams/34.6 ounces of color B.
Total blanket, without double border: 1.550 grams/55 ounches; 830 grams/29.5 ounches of color A and 720 grams/25.5 ounces of color B.
For the main body of the blanket, you will need a 4,5 mm hook (G/7 hook). You will also need hooks two and three sizes smaller than that for the border.
My blanket
I used Stylecraft Special DK (SSDK) in Lime for my color A and SSDK in Teal for my color B.
