If you were into Converse and skinny jeans, studded belts, Panic! At The Disco/Paramore/My Chemical Romance, lip piercings and had a fringe so long you couldn’t see where you were going- this is the pattern for you! Or perhaps you have an emo in your life- I promise you they will love this item as a gift.

About the pattern:
a rectangular single-sided wrap/shawl/scarf inspired by all things emo. Expect lots of different techniques and perhaps a new stitch or two for you to add to your repertoire.
I have written alternate versions for some of the more difficult sections (these are clearly marked), making this pattern suitable for advanced beginners to experts.

Tools and notions:
three skeins of fingering weight yarn (400m per 100g minimum), two stitch markers, a cable needle, 3.5mm and 4.5mm circular needles (minimum 60cm length).

Choosing your yarns:
Elder Emo is written for 3 different colours and I’ve got some tips to help when selecting your yarns:
The name of the game is contrast! Personally I think this pattern looks best in three different solid colours- it’s a very busy piece and multicoloured yarn can get lost, but if you feel the need then I would recommend using it for C2. I would strongly suggest that C1 is a dark semisolid or tonal, and it needs to have major contrast with C3.
My personal preference for this pattern (after making three of them with different yarns and seeing what my testers used) would be:
C1- very dark semisolid or tonal
C2- super bright solid, variegated or speckled
C3- a pale neutral solid, tonal or very subtly speckled
