Elena Boot Cuffs
These boot cuffs are a great way to dress up your boots or add a pop of color to your outfit. The ribbed portion tucks into the top of your boot, and the cable band can either be worn up over your leggings or jeans, or folded down over the top of your boot. Best of all, they fill the gap at the top of your boot and keep your legs warmer!
The ribbing of each cuff is knit first, then the cable band is knit onto the ribbing’s live stitches. This eliminates the need to pick up stitches from the cable band’s edge, a task that many knitters try to avoid. The band is then seamed up to complete the cuff. The cable pattern is provided in both written-out and charted formats.
For knitting in the round, you can use DPNs, two circular needles, or one large circular needle for the Magic Loop technique. You will also need an additional straight needle to work the band and a cable needle.
An updated version of the pattern was added on March 24, 2013. It clarifies that the cable band is knit side-to-side, not in the round.
