Elephants are my favourite animal! This newborn beanie was designed and made as a winter accessory for my soon-to-be-born son.

The pattern calls for 4 ply yarn in three colours: pale turquoise, dark turquoise, and grey. Double strands of turquoise yarn are used (along with a 6.00 mm crochet hook) for the beanie, and a single strand of grey yarn is used (with a 3.00 mm crochet hook) to make the elephant appliqué. A very small amount of black DK yarn is needed with which to embroider the eye of the elephant.

The only additional material required is a darning needle, with which to weave in the ends.

The pattern provides instructions for a ‘newborn’ size beanie (please note: this is only a guide; individual head size may vary).
