When we crochet with super-bulky yarn, we often have to choose between a project that has holes between the stitches or a project that is too stiff to wear. Not so with this one! Squishy and thick but with comfortable stretch, this statement-piece
is the embodiment of cozy. Made in the trinity stitch pattern, with an easy 1-row repeat, this project is suitable for beginners or anyone looking for a super-fast, but interesting-to-make hat. And since each beanie takes only about 1-1.5 hours to make, these are perfect for last-minute gifting! Thank goodness for the eleventh-hour- that’s when I get most of my projects done!

This pattern is free when signing up for the Creative Crochet Corner newsletter. It was par of a free live crochet event. A replay of the video tutorial can be watched here on the Creative Crochet Corner website, or here on You Tube.

Sizes
Sized to fit baby (toddler/child small, child/adult small, adult medium, adult large, adult XL). Head sizes vary a lot so please choose size based on measurements below. These are only guidelines.

Finished Measurements
Finished hat measures approximately 15.75 (17.25, 18.5, 20, 21.25, 22.75)” 40 (44, 47, 51, 54, 58) cm in circumference and about 7 (8, 9, 10, 10, 11)” 18 (20.5, 23, 25.5, 25.5, 28) cm tall.
This squishy hat has moderate stretch and fits best when
hat measures about 1-2” 2.5-5 cm smaller than head circumference. The larger sizes need closer to 2” 5 cm of negative ease, the smaller sizer fit best with 1” of negative ease.

Materials
• Approximately 56 (70, 75, 82, 86, 93) yds 51 (64, 69, 75, 79, 85)m super bulky weight yarn (CYCA#6), preferably a 1-ply soft wool, or acrylic (or a blend of these fibers)
• Approximately 48” 122 cm of a sturdy worsted weight (or thinner) yarn. Embroidery floss works well here too. This is to be used for tying the pompom together and fastening to the hat. Yarn amounts include pompom.

• Yarn Needle
• Removeable stitch markers – optional for newer crocheters, to keep track of the first and last stitch of each row
