It’s great to find an easy colour-changing pattern that’s easy to work, but looks really complicated. Both the xowl and hat are worked in the round, from the bottom up. The cowl has a twisted rib border in MC and the Florentine Frieze pattern is then worked in two colours. The hat has a deep band of pattern and a stocking stitch crown. When you’re choosing your colours, make sure that you have a good contract between them so that the pattern really stands out. When working in Florentine Frieze patt, carry the unused yarn up the inside of the work.

This pattern features in Issue 86 of Knit Now, which is on sale from 22nd March in supermarkets, newsagents and craft stores across the UK. Find your nearest UK stockist here. Copies can also be ordered from MoreMags or if you prefer, digital editions are available via PocketMags.
