Soft, airy, and light as a feather, Elma Cardigan brings a modern look for this classic garment. It’s worked seamlessly from the top down with classic raglan shaping, creating a relaxed, easy fit through the shoulders. Double-knitted front bands add a little structure and provide a clean, polished finish.

Elma Cardigan has a delicate halo and a featherweight feel that makes it as joyful to knit and to wear. It’s a simple piece with refined details, designed to fit effortlessly in your knitted wardrobe and bring a gentle pop of colour.

MATERIALS
Yarn: 3 (3, 4, 4, 4) (5, 5, 5, 5) skeins of Suri Silk Cloud by Life in the Long Grass (74% Baby Suri Alpaca 26% Mulberry Silk Non-Superwash; 330 yds (300 m) per 50 g), in colourway Watermelon (speckled pink).

Approx. 790 (890, 1000, 1110, 1220) (1330, 1420, 1510, 1600) yds / 720 (815, 915, 1015, 1115) (1215, 1300, 1380, 1465) m of heavy lace-weight yarn. Note: I knitted the sample shown in the photos in size 4 and used every bit of 3 skeins, even my swatch. Many test knitters needed a bit more yarn, so the yardages are updated to match that.

Needles: US 6 (4 mm) and US 2½ (3 mm) circular needles, 32” (80 cm) long or longer, and dpns in each size if not using magic loop method for small circumference knitting.
