Elmonica is a tiny town in Washington County, Oregon. It is a portmanteau of the daughters’ names of a farmer in the area. Eleanor and Monica became Elmonica.

While this hat looks complex it is not. Only one color is worked per round. The other color remains at the start of the round. The pattern is formed with one over one cable and mostly purl rows with slipped stitches.

One may have enough yarn to knit the whole hat with two mini skeins (20 g) but it is shown with three. If one wishes to play yarn chicken one could alternate the Main Color and Contrast Color for the band.
