Errata:

This pattern is 8 years old. I initially designed it in 2016, tested in 2017 but didn’t upload it to the Ravelry database. The current version was minimally revised, meaning I didn’t mess with the old timey format, and tested again in 2025.
Emelie…
If you have read any of Anne Rice’s novels set in New Orleans or have visited that historical city, then this combination of cables and lace may remind you, as it did me, of the magnificent old ironwork gates and balconies seen throughout the French Quarter. For this sock I chose an old and popular in its time New Orleans’ woman’s name, Emelie.
Emelie is knit toe-up. Sock has full gusset with faux flap heel. Lacework is featured on the instep and front of leg, and cables ascend the heel flap and continue up the back of leg. Options include rounded or anatomical toe and plain or EOP reinforced heel. Stitch patterns are charted.
Difficulty: Moderate. Some experience needed with toe-up construction, chart reading, lacework, cross stitches, and cables.
