Amelia Peabody and her husband, Professor Radcliffe Emerson, are my favourite literary couple. When not getting themselves embroiled in murder investigations or excavating fascinating archaeological sites in Egypt, they can be found bickering…although in the end, they are usually of “one mind”.

Emerson and Peabody is a pattern that gives you two stitch pattern options. The first of a textured chevron suitable for the “male person” in your life. The second is a lacy version of that same textured chevron, practical and yet quietly feminine, much like Amelia herself.

Featuring a Strong-style heel, there is no need to pick up stitches, meaning that the resulting sock is reversible!

Amelia’s adventures in sleuthing are recorded in the Amelia Peabody series of novels by Elizabeth Peters. The first novel is Crocodile on the Sandbank, and my all-time favourite is The Hippopotamus Pool.
